Little Known Bible Fact of the Day: Piercings and Tattoos are a SIN!

"Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD." - Leviticus 19:28

According to the Old Testament it doesn't matter if you have a cute fairy tattoo on your ankle or your entire face tatted and pierced. Tattoos and Piercings = Sin!

Sinner!

Sinner!

Sinner!

Sinner!

I've heard Christians say "well, tattoos are only forbidden in the Old Testament, not the New, so it doesn't apply to me and my sweet Jesus fish tatt." Well, by that logic Christians should be cool with homosexuality since it's only directly referenced as being forbidden in the same book (Leviticus) of the Old Testament.

  2. 1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.

2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. Mk. 4.24

3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?

5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

6 ¶ Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you

  4. O_O Amazing how many people are sinners like that then. o.0 The girl probably had no choice too. I bet her parents did that when she was a baby like with my niece.

The picture of Manson as a sinner was redundant though. Mass murderer by proxy versus carving your forehead... yeah kinda too late.

Thanks for this though that's actually really interesting.

  5. It seems every Christian anti-tattoo argument is based primarily on one thing...a single verse from Leviticus:

"You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh on account of the dead or tattoo any marks upon you: I am the LORD."

Does this verse really condemn all tattoos?

    Read properly, no!

Leviticus 19:26-31 deals with pagan practices and God's prohibitions against adopting those practices. In verse 28, God is warning the Jewish people about a pagan practice at funerals, where pagans would mutilate/mark themselves to appease their false gods. The pagans hoped that by cutting themselves and marking images/symbols of idols on their bodies, that they would obtain favour in the afterlife from their false gods, both for themselves and for those who just died.
Maybe those who like to discredit religion and people's beliefs should really take the time to study and fully understand what they are trying to discredit. The old testament was written for those who lived in those days and they needed strict laws, but with Jesus sacrificing himself for our sins the laws changed since now all you have to do is believe that jesus died for our sins and God is the almighty and only god ( have faith) that is all you need to enter heaven. And if that isn't enough for you think of it this way, if your right then whatever we just die and there is nothing to it, but if I'm right (which christians are ) your screwed.

  6. Also without getting to technical, if you read closely, the verse talking about homosexuality states that if a man has sex with another man in the way he would with a woman it is detestable. Yes that is in Leviticus in the old testament but check out 1 corinthians 6:9; 10 and 6:11 it is wrong in the old and new.You aren't born that way it is a perversion you do but you can be forgiven if you accept the lord and ask for forgiveness.

  7. You can be a homosexual but you will not get into heaven. You won't be killed in this day in age, but when you do die you will not get into heaven. So I hope that answers your question. Remember Jesus loves you and he will forgive you.
