Richard Pryor: Why Vampires Hate the Crucifix

Richard Pryor had more useful insight to this world than any pope, priest, rabbi, or imam ever did!

God Tricks 117 Russian 'Sinners' by Poisioning Their 'Holy Water'

MOSCOW — More than 100 Russian Orthodox believers have been hospitalized after drinking holy water during Epiphany celebrations in the eastern city of Irkutsk, an official said Monday.

A total of 117 people, including 48 children, were in the hospital complaining of acute intestinal pain after drinking water from wells in and around a local church last week, said Vladimir Salovarov, a spokesman for the Irkutsk Investigative Committee.

Salovarov said 204 people required some medical treatment after consuming the water, the source of which was a stagnant lake. He said, however, that it was too early to say what caused the illness.

Many Russians consider any water obtained on Epiphany – which they celebrate on Jan. 19 – to be holy.

Gunsights From God

Coded references to biblical passages are inscribed on gunsights widely used by the US and British military in Iraq and Afghanistan, it has emerged.

The Trijicon rifle scopes, which are being used by U.S. soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan, are inscribed with abbreviations like JN8:12, for John 8:12 -- "When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, 'I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.'" The Army said this week it is investigating whether Trijicon violated procurement rules.

The inscriptions have been criticized by religious groups and separation of church and state activists. Mikey Weinstein of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation told ABC, "It allows the Mujahedeen, the Taliban, al Qaeda and the insurrectionists and jihadists to claim they're being shot by Jesus rifles."

"We believe that America is great when its people are good. This goodness has been based on biblical standards throughout our history and we will strive to follow those morals." - Trijicon

Here is Steve Doocy of Fox News trying to justify Trijicon's bible scopes by using the "they started it" defense. I would expect that excuse from a 5 year old after a playground fight...but this is Fox News after all.

Symphony of Science - 'The Unbroken Thread'

"The Unbroken Thread" is the fourth video in the Symphony of Science series, and it features David Attenborough, Jane Goodall, and Carl Sagan. The clips used in this installment come from Carl Sagan's Cosmos, David Attenborough's Charles Darwin and the Tree of Life, The Life of Mammals, The Living Planet, BBC Life, XVIVO Scientific Animations, IMAX Cosmic Voyage, Jane Goodall's TED Talk, and a clever Guiness Commercial. The themes present in The Unbroken Thread attempt to explore the wild diversity of life on our planet, the intricacy and origin of its mechanisms, and its close relation to all other life forms.

Brit Hume of Fox New Being a Condescending Ass Hat

Tiger Woods must become a Christian to be forgiven.

"The extent to which he can recover seems to me depends on his faith," said Hume. "He is said to be a Buddhist. I don't think that faith offers the kind of redemption and forgiveness offered by the Christian faith. My message to Tiger is, 'Tiger turn to the Christian faith and you can make a total recovery and be a great example to the world."

Hey Brit, that's some pretty ironic logic given the many recent
sex scandals of prominent right wing conservative Christian politicians.
